Gill is past president of Rural Women NZ.

Gill Naylor ONZM

Gill is Southland born and bred and farmed with her husband, Dave, for many years in Becks, Central Otago. They are now based on the outskirts of Alexandra. Gill was actively involved in her local community while they farmed and raised a family at Becks, and has been a member of Rural Women New Zealand for the vast majority of that time, often holding office from local level through to putting herself forward for election at a national level. Gill’s four-year tenure as National President of RWNZ ended in November last year. She is now enjoying being part of the RWNZ Lower South Island Regional team, as well as involvement in the organising committee for this year’s Inspiring Wahine Conference.

Gill has also served as a Trustee and Vice-Chair of Life Education Trust Heartland Otago Southland, and in 2012 was appointed Chair of the Central Otago District Council Representation Review Panel for that year’s Review.

Gill truly values the opportunities that are a part of living in a small rural community and has enjoyed contributing to the groups that are so necessary to keep those rural facilities and services functioning.

Being offered a place on a Central Lakes Trust sponsored leadership course much earlier in her leadership journey was the catalyst for Gill to have the confidence to put herself forward for higher level roles
